Maegan Staats, LPC

Holistic therapy with warmth and compassion - that is the foundation of Healing Space Counseling and the cornerstone of my practice. I believe treatment should address the whole person and work for you at any point in your journey towards wellness.

Using an individualized approach, I tailor a variety of proven therapeutic methods towards your unique growth and healing. Together we work at the pace and depth that feels right for you.

I first entered the field of mental health as a Crime Victim’s Advocate and Counselor. This role ignited my passion for therapy and working with those in distress. I found the work equally challenging and invigorating and learned how profoundly our outer and inner experiences affect one another. Wanting to take patients beyond crisis and into the healing process, I returned to school, earning a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from West Chester University and set to work.

With years of experience across various clinical settings including non-profit, hospital, school and outpatient, I offer richly informed professional therapy and counseling to my clients, making use of multiple treatment modalities rather than forcing a singular approach or diagnosis.

My practice targets emotions stemming from stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, cognitive disorders and relationship issues, with three fundamental elements:

  • Process-oriented therapy for developing personal awareness and management of powerful thoughts, feelings, and emotions,

  • Transparent, collaborative work that informs, guides, and empowers you to self-regulate, and

  • Integrative use of methods treating the whole person with mindfulness at the core.

In my off-hours, I enjoy yoga, cooking and anything outdoorsy. I most recently enjoyed hikes along the West Rim Trail of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and the Black Forest Trail in the Tiadaghton State Forest. I’m also proud co-author of Group Therapy Workbook: Integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Psychodramatic Theory and Practice that helps other therapists integrate powerful methods for better outcomes.

I invite you to find your place here at Healing Space. Whether you enjoy my online resources, workshops and meditation sessions, or private one-on-one counseling, you are always welcome.
